Aaron was born and raised in New York City exploring its neighborhoods, its people, and its streets. Over the years these explorations evolved from personal curiosities to a creative mission committed to promoting access & awareness of under-appreciated environments throughout our cities.
These experiences have become the foundation for a body of work, focused on sharing the visible and invisible details of spaces and stories — and the ways art (projects and installations) can highlight the importance of these phenomenon in our everyday lives.
“I guess my interest in under-appreciated spaces started as a kid from Queens, wandering along the then abandoned Highline and always wondering why I was always the only person up there? Of course, the Highline has changed a bit, but being up there, back then, was inspiring like nothing else … and trying to share that has become the motivation for all the work that I’ve done since …”
Today, Aaron continues to promote access & awareness throughout our cities — working with community groups, non-profit organizations, and government agencies to document under-appreciated phenomenon and to exhibit work in unexpected places. And, while this work is focused on sharing art experiences outside of art spaces, the focus is not to answer complicated questions — but rather to inspire new ideas, create unique experiences, and generate public opportunities for us to explore, learn, and share throughout our cities.
Aaron is the creator of Unforgotten Films and AsanoNYC, co-creator of Recharge the Battery, SD Arts Society, and WaterMarks — and works closely with Untapped New York, People for the Pavilion, Belltown United, Harvester Arts, and City as Living Laboratory to demonstrate the power of art in helping to improve our relationships with our cities and with each other.

For each Resident Artist, at least two local Satellite Artists or groups are selected. Satellite Artists are tasked with taking an aspect of the Resident’s work, process, or ideas and creating new work in response. Satellite Artists have the opportunity to work closely with the Resident Artist. Satellite Artists may collaborate or produce independent work. Satellite Artists are responsible for an exhibition and receive a stipend.
Interested in participating with Harvester Arts? Harvester Arts is open to all art forms but does focus on installation and performative projects. Our residencies offer an opportunity for an artist to develop and experiment.
