Smack Dab Dance Lab Dance Fest

Dance Fest

Smack Dab Dance Fest is a celebration of movement, creativity, and community. Produced by Smack Dab Dance Lab in partnership with Harvester Arts, the festival brings together dancers, choreographers, cultural organizations, and movement enthusiasts from across Wichita for a shared exploration of what dance can be.

The festival showcases an extraordinary range of local dance voices, from professional companies and cultural traditions to independent artists and choreographers, reflecting the depth and diversity of Wichita’s growing dance landscape. Featured artists and organizations include Alithea Mime Theatre, Baila Wichita, Ballet Wichita, Cheyla Clawson, Heather Eilerts, ICT Collective, Kalakrit School of Art, Local Abundance Productions, Madi White, Megan Bascom & Dancers, Natyam School of Dance, Raices De Mi Tierra, Regina Klenjoski Dance Company, Rhiannon Vieyra, Rooted Dance Co., and Sarah Knapp.

More than a performance event, Smack Dab Dance Fest invites the community into the creative process through classes, workshops, and opportunities to engage directly with artists. Whether you are a lifelong dancer, a curious newcomer, or simply someone who enjoys gathering with others, the festival offers welcoming points of entry for all levels of experience.

Fundamentally, Smack Dab Dance Fest is about connection among artists and audiences, across different movement traditions, and within a community of people who believe that dance has the power to inspire, challenge, and bring communities together. By creating space for experimentation, expression, and exchange, the festival strengthens Wichita’s dance ecosystem while celebrating the vibrant artists who make it thrive.

Silent Disco

Thursday, June 11, 2026 | 6-8 PM | Harvester Arts 120 E 1st Street N, Ste 115

Enter the strange little world of our Silent Disco Dance Party Fundraiser for Smack Dab Dance Lab’s newest endeavor.

A room full of people dancing together. No speakers. No booming sound system. Just wireless headphones, shifting colors, and the occasional realization that the person next to you might be in a parallel dance universe.

You can move between three audio channels: two curated playlists and one community-built “Request Line.”

Donate $$$ and you can submit whatever song you want to hear on the Request Line channel. Deep cuts, dance anthems, heartbreak ballads, unhinged chaos… we support your journey.

The result is part dance party, part social experiment, part collective fever dream.

All proceeds support the Smack Dab Dance Fest to help sustain adventurous, artist-driven dance experiences in Wichita.

It’s a donation-based admission to join the dance party. Bring your friends and family, your neighbors and nemeses. Dance like everyone’s watching and support local dance artists!

About

Smack Dab Dance Lab is the resident dance company of Harvester Arts — a collective of curious movers and makers who value experimentation, collaboration, and connection.

Under the direction of dance artist and Harvester Arts Managing Director Mina Estrada, it creates performance experiences that live at the intersection of dance, visual art, and community. Whether through staged works or site-specific happenings, Smack Dab invites audiences into the creative process, encouraging dialogue, shared discovery, and a sense of wonder through movement.

In addition to creating original work, Smack Dab Dance Lab is committed to supporting and creating space for other artists by curating opportunities for visibility and exchange through events like Ten Tiny Dances (ten choreographers create work for a 4x4 stage) and Super Fresh (showcase for emerging choreographers), and conjuring new ways to platform more artists every year.
