Harvester Arts and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) have partnered to bring Oklahoma and Wichita artists together to be featured in the exhibition, Concept, which opens at Harvester Arts Friday, September 4th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The exhibition is a re-imagined presentation of the partner exhibition which showed at ahha in Tulsa from February to April, 2020.

The featured Concept Artists from Oklahoma are Andy Mattern, Geoffrey Hicks, Naima Lowe, and Sarah Ahmad. The Wichita-based artists are Amanda Pfister, Kevin Kelly, Micala Gingrich-Gaylord, and Rachel Foster.

Concept is a regional art exchange program and exhibition that funds four Oklahoma and four Wichita, KS Focus Artists to create original work featured in this exhibition. Concept allows the audience to investigate contemporary practices of artists and art-making in this region. The exchange allows audiences and the participating artists to find both similarities and differences in regional concepts, trends, practices, and more.

Focus Artists were selected and mentored by the Guest Curator Heather Pesanti, Chief Curator of The Contemporary Austin. Heather worked closely with the Focus artists to encourage and develop original work featured in the exhibition. The exhibition is intended to nurture, support, and connect artists to art practitioners; increase exposure; and foster critical dialogue about their work, and the state of art in Oklahoma and Wichita, KS.
