Happening at Harvester - June 23-29

June 23, 2025 | Kristin

Closing receptions

06/27 6-8 PM | Free Admission

In a New Light is an exploration of transformation—an evolving dialogue between the artists, their work, and those who experience it. With works by Emily Wittler, Kammy Downs, Sam Gales, Ellie Keppy, Malissa Long, Jeni Doom, and Sarah Chavez, this exhibition reflects themes of growth, evolution, healing, and deconstruction, revealing art’s ability to shift, expand, and redefine itself. Just as every artist views their work in a distinct light, visitors will find their own perspectives evolving, challenged, and illuminated in new ways.

Curated by local gay artist & graphic designer Michael K Davenport and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, this exhibition—created in partnership with The City of Wichita’s Division of Arts & Cultural Services—celebrates the rich and diverse experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals in Kansas.

Longtime Wichita resident and mild-mannered weirdo JAMES GATES presents a disparate collection of silly images, words, and items which have been created, assembled, and curated for your amusement and confusement. Some works are shenanigan-based, while others are merely dingbatty. Recent collaborations/hijinks with other local artists will be highlighted as well.

Knitflix and Chill

06/28 12:30PM - 2:00PM | $15 Tickets in bio

Cozy crafters and rom-com lovers, unite! Bring your knitting, crocheting, or any mess-free craft and settle in for an afternoon of handmade magic and feel-good flicks. We’re serving up swoon-worthy romantic comedies and chill vibes—because multitasking has never been this fun!

No yarn? No problem! Harvester Arts will have yarn, crocheting supplies, and wine available in their space to help you get started. Afterwards, head into the film center to settle in when doors open at 2 PM.

Snacks will be available for purchase, and rom-com magic is guaranteed. Let’s stitch, sip, and swoon together!
