Sewing with Metal: A Workshop with Malissa Long

Ready to take your sewing skills to the next level? In this class, you’ll learn how to add a metallic touch to your fiber art! We’ll explore exciting new techniques for embellishing fabric with metal, creating two unique pieces of abstract art.

What You’ll Make

You’ll create two stunning pieces of abstract art by combining metal with various fiber materials. This is a fantastic opportunity to experiment and push your creativity in a new direction.

What’s Included

We’ll provide the water-soluble backing, Fabric scraps, along with all the metal you’ll need. You’re also welcome to bring your fabric.

The cost is $50 per student. Tickets available here.

Don’t have a sewing machine? No problem! We have machines available for you to use. Just let us know when you register if you’ll be bringing your own machine or using one of ours.

Meet Your Instructor

Malissa Long is a fashion designer and fiber artist with over 40 years of sewing experience and 20 years of teaching. Her impressive background includes showcasing her work at multiple fashion weeks and galleries. She has also worked in various production roles, including garment, drapery, and military and aircraft sewing. Malissa is passionate about sharing her skills and has dedicated her time to teaching others sewing.
